Permalip Lip Implant in Las Vegas
Permalip is a soft silicone lip implant placed through small, hidden incisions at the corners of the mouth — producing natural-looking, permanent lip volume that requires no maintenance injections.
What Is Permalip Lip Implant?
Permalip is an FDA-cleared, soft silicone implant designed for permanent lip enhancement. Unlike injectable lip fillers (which require repeat treatments every 6-12 months) or fat transfer (results vary based on graft survival), Permalip provides a one-time, lasting solution for patients who want fuller lips without ongoing maintenance.
The implant is available in multiple sizes (3mm, 4mm, 5mm) and is placed through tiny incisions hidden in the natural skin folds at the corners of the mouth. Once positioned, it integrates with the surrounding tissue and produces results that look and feel natural — including the ability to smile, kiss, and eat normally.
Performed by Dr. Robert Troell, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, in our AAAASF-accredited Las Vegas surgical facility.
Permalip Lip Implant Techniques
Standard Permalip Placement
Most common approach. Small incisions at the corners of the mouth provide a tunnel for placement of the soft silicone implant. The procedure takes about 30 minutes per lip.
Permalip + Lip Lift Combination
Permalip implant placed during a lip refinement procedure. Adds permanent volume during the same anesthetic.
Implant Sizing & Customization
Three implant sizes available (3mm, 4mm, 5mm). Sizing is determined at consultation based on existing lip anatomy and aesthetic goals. Smaller sizes produce subtle, natural enhancement; larger sizes produce more dramatic fullness.
Candidacy
Strong candidates for Permalip typically have:
- Tired of repeat lip filler injections. Patients who have used hyaluronic-acid fillers and want a permanent solution without quarterly or annual maintenance.
- Desire for natural-looking permanent volume. Permalip produces a soft, natural feel — not the over-injected look that aggressive filler can create.
- Healthy lip anatomy. Without active herpes outbreaks, recent lip injuries, or prior implants requiring removal.
- Long-term thinking. Permalip is a one-time, lasting solution. Patients who anticipate changing their aesthetic goals may prefer reversible filler instead.
- Realistic expectations. Implant produces permanent volume but does not address lip-to-nose ratio (that's a lip lift) or fine perioral wrinkles (that's filler or laser).
Dr. Troell will evaluate your goals at your consultation to determine the right approach.
Why Patients Choose Permalip Lip Implant
- Permanent. Once placed, the implant is lasting — no repeat injection schedule, no maintenance cost.
- Natural feel. Soft silicone integrates with surrounding tissue. Lips smile, kiss, and eat normally.
- FDA-cleared. Permalip is an FDA-cleared device with established safety record.
- Reversible if desired. Although designed to be permanent, Permalip implants can be removed if the patient changes their mind.
- Combinable. Pairs well with rhinoplasty, facelift, or other facial procedures.

Surgical Risks & Recovery Considerations
Permalip lip implant carries general surgical risks plus considerations specific to lip implants. Most are rare with proper surgical technique and post-operative care.
- Bleeding or hematoma. Uncommon; managed with surgical drainage if it occurs.
- Infection. Rare with proper technique and antibiotic prophylaxis.
- Scarring. All surgical procedures produce some scarring. Scars typically fade significantly over 12-18 months.
- Asymmetry. Subtle asymmetry can occur and may require minor revision.
- Anesthesia risks. General risks associated with anesthesia administration in healthy patients.
- Suboptimal results. Final outcomes depend on individual healing, anatomy, and adherence to post-op instructions.
A complete risk discussion is part of every surgical consultation. Dr. Troell will review your specific risk profile and answer any questions before scheduling.

Permalip Lip Implant FAQ
How long does Permalip last?
Permalip is designed to be permanent. The implant doesn't dissolve, migrate, or require replacement. Some patients keep their Permalip for life.
Can it be removed if I change my mind?
Yes — although Permalip is designed to be permanent, the implants can be surgically removed at any time. Removal is a simple procedure.
Will my lips feel different?
Permalip is made of soft silicone designed to feel natural. After initial healing (2-3 weeks), most patients report the lips feel and behave normally for kissing, smiling, and eating.
Permalip vs lip filler vs lip lift — how do I choose?
Lip filler = reversible, 6-12 month duration, instant volume. Permalip = permanent, one-time, soft silicone implant. Lip lift = surgical proportion change (shortens distance between nose and lip). Permalip is right for patients who specifically want permanent lip volume without ongoing maintenance.
What sizes are available?
Three sizes: 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm. Sizing is determined at consultation based on your existing lip anatomy and aesthetic goals. Most patients choose 4mm.
