How long does it take to heal from a breast lift?

The initial recovery process for a breast lift lasts for approximately two weeks. During this period, you will experience swelling and bruising. You'll continue to experience some numbness and tenderness up to six weeks after surgery. This is also when you'll start to see the final results of the surgery.

Does a breast lift change your cup size?

A breast lift on its own does not add or take away any breast volume. However, many patients go down one cup size due to a change in their breast shape.

How long do I have to wear a bra after a breast lift?

You'll need to wear a surgical compression bra for approximately six weeks after your surgery. This bra should be worn as often as possible, including at night. Surgical compression bras help maintain the results of the surgery and protect your breasts as they are healing. Your surgeon will let you know when it is safe to stop wearing a bra.

Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?

In most cases, patients are able to breastfeed safely after their breast lift has fully healed. However, pregnancy and breastfeeding can dramatically change the shape and size of your breasts. Because of this, it's usually more efficient to wait until after you're finished having children to have a breast lift.

How much scarring will I experience after a breast lift?

The amount of scarring you experience will depend on the incisions used during the procedure. Some techniques only leave scarring around the nipple, while others leave vertical scars along the breast or horizontal scars under the breast. Dr. Troell will discuss potential scarring with you during your consultation. Most scars fade drastically within one year of surgery.
