What is rhinoplasty
Often referred to as a "nose job", we use this procedure to reshape the nose with close precision. By adjusting the cartilage and bone under the nose, we're able to change the appearance of your nose and even address underlying health issues.
During this procedure, Dr. Troell will use sophisticated surgical techniques to change the shape of your nose by repositioning skin, cartilage, or bone. We will work with you to ensure that the final result reflects your expectations and preferences and creates a natural-looking result.
While rhinoplasty is typically done for aesthetic purposes, it can also be done to address structural issues within the nose. For example, rhinoplasty is often done to repair the nose after injury, or to fix a deviated septum and improve the patient's breathing.

There are two main types of rhinoplasty: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. Dr. Troell will determine which one is best for the structure of your nose and the changes you want to make.
Closed rhinoplasty
A closed rhinoplasty uses incisions inside the nose and is generally less invasive than open rhinoplasty. This procedure also doesn't leave visible scars.
Open Rhinoplasty
However, some patients may require open rhinoplasty, which uses a very small incision under the columella, which is the piece of tissue that separates your nostrils. This gives the plastic surgeon more access to the tissues and bones in your nose, which is often necessary for more invasive surgeries.
Revision rhinoplasty
We also offer revision rhinoplasty. If you've had nose surgery in the past and weren't happy with the results, we can perform a revision procedure to help you get results you're happier with.
Rhinoplasty candidacy am I a candidate for rhinoplasty?
During your consultation, Dr. Troell will have a discussion with you to make sure that you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty. In order to qualify, you'll need to be in generally good health.
Your lifestyle may also preclude you from getting rhinoplasty in certain cases. In particular, patients who smoke are unlikely to be good candidates for the procedure. Your face will need to be fully developed in order to qualify for a rhinoplasty procedure. For most people, facial growth finishes between the ages of 17 and 22.
Benefits of Rhinoplasty
There are many reasons why our patients opt for rhinoplasty surgery. If you're unhappy with the way your nose looks, it can have a negative impact on your self-confidence and overall well-being.
The nose is one of your most prominent facial features, so changing its structure can change the entire appearance of your face. Many patients find that this plastic surgery procedure helps them feel more relaxed, happy, and confident in their own skin.
If you've had an injury that has caused structural damage to your nose, rhinoplasty can also be used to correct these issues and restore your appearance. In some cases, rhinoplasty is also performed to reshape the nasal passages and make it easier to breathe.
Regardless of why you're having rhinoplasty surgery, we always take your individual needs and preferences into account for this procedure. Dr. Troell will assess the shape of your face and your aesthetic goals to find the best nose shape for you.
What to expect before and during your rhinoplasty procedure
This surgical procedure is performed under anesthesia to keep patients as comfortable as possible. This procedure can be done under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia, and we will discuss this during your initial consultation to determine which option is best for you.
During the procedure, we will reshape the cartilage and bone structure underneath the skin. The surgery can take anywhere from two to five hours in total. Once the procedure is done, we will carefully place sutures in your incisions to help you heal safely.
Dr. Troell and our surgical team will discuss the procedure in detail with you during your pre-operative appointments, and we encourage you to ask questions as well.
Recovery From Rhinoplasty - What to Expect After
The rhinoplasty recovery process typically takes three to four weeks in total, although it can take several months to see the final results.
The initial recovery period will last for approximately one week. You'll need to wear a cast or splint during this time period. You'll experience mild bruising and swelling, and you will likely need to take pain medication during the first
